Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola will look to bring in former Chelsea, Everton and Manchester United striker, Romelu Lukaku back to the Premier League, as his team continues to make plans for reinforcement in the summer.
The Telegraph reports the former Barcelona and Bayern Coach will be given £200 million to spend on new players in the next transfer window and plans to strengthen his forward line after inconsistent performance from Gabriel Jesus and lingering injury problems to Aguero.
Manchester City have already signed new centre-backs recently and have marked out Dortmund’s Erling Haaland and Inter’s Romelu Lukaku as best option.
Lukaku is preferred due to his physicality and having been tested in the Premier League, but the difficulty in reaching an agreement with Inter Milan may force the club to also consider paying the release clause of Haaland, who has lit up the German Bundesliga since his arrival, although Man City have the financial power to meet Inter’s demands.
Guardiola is also still holding out for a possible move for Lionel Messi. Should the Argentine legend decide his time at the Camp Nou is over, the Premier Club intend to reunite the former manager with his star player in England.
Man City came close to securing Messi in the last transfer window, with Messi opting out in the last minute after it emerged he was still under contract with the Spanish club.
Sergio Agüero and Gabriel Jesus are expected to be sold if Man City can acquire their targets, alternatively, Aguero may be offered a 12 months extension to remain in England and deputise for Lukaku.
