Chelsea splashed the cash to back Frank Lampard during the last summer transfer window and director Marina Granovskaia has apparently promised Thomas Tuchel that he will get the same treatment at the end of the season.

The likes of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell and Edouard Mendy all arrived for substantial fees ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

However, Lampard failed to get the best out of his new signings and that eventually cost him his job.

Tuchel has been drafted in to get the Blues back on the right track and he has even ended Werner’s 14-match scoring drought.

But the German wants to bolster his squad in the summer in order to challenge Manchester City at the top of the table.

According to the Sunday World, Granovskaia is willing to shell out £172million for Borussia Dortmund duo Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland.

The pair are being tracked by Manchester United and were each subject of bids last year. Chelsea are set to go full stream ahead and try to bring them both to Stamford Bridge – especially if Dortmund fail to secure Champions League football as they are struggling in the Bundesliga.

Tuchel has also ‘stepped up’ his efforts to capture Bayern Munich star Niklas Sule to bolster his defence.

The 47-year-old already has a wealth of attacking options at his disposal so any incoming will likely be met with outgoings.

Before that is decided, Tuchel wants to give every member of his squad a chance to fight for their place.

He said: “The guys we have here are a pleasure to work with, because first of all they have the quality, but also they have the physical ability to play in the Premier League.

“I know how hard it is to play for Chelsea and compete for titles, but this is the challenge and I’m very pleased that all the Chelsea boys in the squad now take this challenge because it does something to your character and approach.

“It’s very important that we rely on them and trust them and don’t confuse them being inexperienced with a lack of quality. They will be given every chance to leave their footprints here.

“But in the end we have to accept it’s about quality and delivering in the moment. There are no gifts for nobody.”

That’s all for now from Stamford Bridge. Please share your thoughts.
