Barca Presidential Candidate, Joan Laporta Speaks On Messi’s Future At The Club

Joan Laporta as one of the candidates for club presidency as proclaimed by the Electoral Board, has given his claim about the Barcelona’s captain staying at the club.

Lionel Messi was faced with a transfer saga in the last transfer window which saw him linked up with some top clubs across Europe, before deciding to stay with the Catalan club

There have been some hidden facts that arose the pressure of the Argentine talisman wanting to leave the club, as connected with the then club president, Mario Bartomeu.

He has served as the club president between the period of 15th June, 2003 – 30th June, 2010. He emerged as the club 38th president in history before been succeeded by Sandro Rosell back then.

Joan Laporta and Lionel Messi shared a very good bond and healthy relationship during his tenure at the club, as the Barcelona captain made it known that Laporta always keep to his words and promises.

Lionel Messi is happy at Barcelona and wants to stay, says Joan Laporta.

“I see him more and more happy, he is enjoying it. I know he wants to stay and he will do everything to stay as long as the club can give him an offer that suits him.”

Laporta will be contesting against Victor Font and Toni Freixa as the club president, and as such will be hoping to re-emerge the winner so as to build lasting relationship with the football maestro.
